Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a satisfactory sound quality by reducing an audible noise level without changing an existing format.
CONSTITUTION: A digital audio signal from an input terminal 11 is transmitted through one block delay 17 to a difference 20, and an output from the difference 20 is restored through a noise shaping adding circuit 21, semi-instantaneous compressor 26, semi-instantaneous expander 27, and accumulator 28, and returned to the difference 20. Then, a difference value is searched from a difference between a signal before one sample and the signal of the present sample. In the nose shaping adding circuit 21, the quantized noise spectrum is changed while an audible characteristic such as a loudness characteristic or a masking characteristic are considered, so that the audible quantized noise level can be reduced.
