Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency band optical module of high frequency responsiveness.
SOLUTION: A high frequency band optical module comprises a stem 3 of conductive material; an optical element 1 coupled and fixed electromechanically to the steam 3 having a minute optical waveguide 11; an electrical waveguide substrate 21 made of electrically-insulating material, when an electrical waveguide 22 for high frequency is formed on its surface and mechanically coupled and fixed near the optical element 1 of the stem 3; a pair of lens holders 41 and 41' of mechanically strong metal material, which are positioned and fixed while facing each other with the optical element 1 in between the lenses 4 and 4' attached to its tip end; optical fibers 42 and 42' mechanically coupled and fixed to the lens holders 41 and 41'; and a hollow shield 5 of conductive material, which encloses the entire electrical waveguide 22 and optical element 1.
