PURPOSE: To attain miniaturization and power saving in a high performance light modulation stroboscope device for flashing a flashing discharge lamp at a high frequency.

CONSTITUTION: The charge accumulated in an energy accumulating capacitor 20 by a high voltage DC power source 10 is carried to a flashing discharge tube 40 through a discharge current limiting circuit 30. By turning on IGBTs 81, 82 at this time, a discharge tube trigger circuit 60 is operated to start the discharge of the flashing discharge tube 40. The IGBTs 81, 82 in which resisters 91, 92 are connected to the respective gates are mounted transversely in parallel to each other, and connected so that the directions are opposed to each other. Thus, the flashing discharge tube 40 can be operated by the IGBTs 81, 82 and flashed at a high frequency, the number of part items is reduced, the wasteful discharge from the capacitor 20 is prevented by generally laying the IGBTs 81, 82 in the OFF states, and miniaturization and power saving of the device can be thus attained.
