PURPOSE: To make real time detection of the condition of progress of thawing of food possible by detecting wave of a high frequency of a frequency band of a high frequency emitting means by means of an antenna.
CONSTITUTION: A detection means 6 for detecting the wave of the frequency band of a high frequency wave emitting means 3 for heating food 1 is arranged via an antenna 4 shorter than 1/4 wave length of the oscillation frequency of the high frequency wave emitting means 3. A control means 9 is provided for controlling magnetron 3 and a cooling fan 8 based on the detected wave signals. As a result, the high frequency wave power detected by the antenna 4 under the condition of ice is high and accordingly the detected voltage is also high. When the high frequency wave power begins to be absorbed by the food 1, the wave power detected by the antenna 4 decreases and the detected voltage also decreases and the thawing of the food is detected at the minimum point. This makes the real time detection of the thawing possible.
