Abstract:

To provide a high frequency induction furnace having high thermal efficiency and a solid melting method.

The high frequency induction furnace 10 comprises an insulating material or a dielectric material, and includes a melting container 11 for storing a solid body to be melted, a high frequency coil 12 disposed to surround the melting container 11, and a cylindrical heating body 13 made of a conductive material and disposed at the center of the melting container 11 for generating heat by electromagnetic induction upon making electric currents at a predetermined frequency flow to the high frequency coil 12. When the outer radius of the heating body 13 is r, its thickness is t, and the surface skin thickness is δ, the relation of t=δ2/r is satisfied. The solid body 50 to be melted is injected in a space between an inner wall surface of the melting container 11 and an outer peripheral wall surface of the heating body 13, and a space on the inside of the heating body 13, and is melted.
