PURPOSE: To stop the thawing step automatically, by sensing electric signals according to the high frequency output of a highfrequency electric power source for carrying out the dielectric heating, and sensing the peak value and the thawing conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A d.c. electric power is supplied from a low-frequency a.c. electric power source 4 to a high-frequency genefating circuit 31 via a rectifying curcuit 30, and a high voltage is applied across opposite electrodes (2a) and (2b) to heat a material (4) to be thawed. The high-frequency generating circuit 31 is controlled by a controlling circuit 32 provided with an input current sensing circuit 320 capable of sensing the input current for sensing the output of the high-frequency generating circuit 31 indirectly. Output signals from the input current sensing circuit 320 are applied to an information processing circuit 321, which inputs the input current signals to a memory circuit 322 and adds the peak value signal of the input current thereto. The output of the high-frequency generating circuit 31 is stopped by an output controlling circuit 323 on the comparing operation to complete the thawing step.
