To provide a high-gradient magnetic separator equipped with a demagnetization circuit which can demagnetize a magnetic filter and magnetic beads quickly with a small and inexpensive device by utilizing characteristics of a superconducting magnet.
The high-gradient magnetic separator is configured so as to form a magnetic filter consisting of fine lines in a magnetic field formed with a superconducting coil, adsorb and capture magnetic beads in a solution flowing through the magnetic filter by using the magnetic filter and separate the captured magnetic beads from the magnetic filter by demagnetizing the magnetic field. In the separator, a resistance R and a capacitor C are connected in series with the superconducting coil L when the power circuit for the superconducting coil L is cut, and an a.c. magnetic field is generated through the LRC series resonant circuit formed, with a magnetic field generated in the superconducting coil L, so as to demagnetize by attenuating the superconducting coil L through the a.c. magnetic field.
