Title:
HIGH-HARDNESS NONMAGNETIC ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58141369
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a high-hardness nonmagnetic alloy consisting of prescribed percentages of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, V and Mo and/or Nb and the balance essentially Fe, enhancing electromagnetic stirring efficiency, and improving the durability of a roll.

CONSTITUTION: This high hardness nonmagnetic alloy consists of, by weight, 0.1W0.6% C, 2.0% Si, 5.0W15.0% Mn, 5.0W15.0% Cr, 5.0W13.0% Ni, <1.0% V, ≤1.0% Mo and/or ≤2.0% Nb and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The nonmagnetic alloy has ≤about 1.005 magnetic permeability and >about 200 VHN high hardness. Accordingly, by using the alloy in place of a conventional material, electromagnetic stirring efficiency is enhanced, the durability of a roll is improved, and an energy saving effect is produced.
