Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the optical fiber array having high accuracy and good weatherability by subjecting plural optical fibers to primary polymer coating and covering the circumferences of the plural optical fibers with a UV curing resin.
CONSTITUTION: A constituting member 11 of the optical fiber array is composed of a high-polymer material or high-polymer composite material contg. quartz beads which allow transmission of UV rays and has good impact resistance. The UV curing resin is usable as a fixing adhesive at the time of fixing and connecting this optical fiber array to other optical parts, for example, waveguides (optical path), etc. The optical fiber array is provided with an optical fiber ribbon 12, bare fiber parts 13 of the optical fiber ribbon, guide pin holes 14 and a boot 15 for mounting the optical fibers. The bare fiber parts 13 of the optical fiber ribbon are subjected to the primary polymer coating. The optical fiber array is excellent in alignment workability using the UV adhesive in this point.
