Title:
HIGH JETNESS CARBON BLACK DISPERSION, PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND COATING MATERIAL COMPOSITION USING THE HIGH JETNESS CARBON BLACK DISPERSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2008285632
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a process for easily producing a carbon black dispersion which has carbon black having a primary particle size of 15 nm or less finely dispersed in an aqueous medium with excellent dispersion stability, appropriate fluidity and high jetness and is produced in applications where finely-divided particles and high jetness are required such as an aqueous coating material, an aqueous ink, an automotive coating material or the like using an aqueous pigment dispersion, to provide the thus-produced carbon black dispersion and to provide a composition using the carbon black dispersion.

A high jetness carbon black dispersion acquires high jetness by allowing carbon black having a DBP oil absorption of not more then 150 ml/100 g, an average primary particle size of 15 nm or less, a specific surface area of not more than 500 m2/g and a pH within the acidic or neutral pH range to be dispersed in the form of a fine particle into an aqueous medium with the aid of a pigment dispersant. A process for producing a carbon black dispersion which acquires high jetness as described above and the high jetness carbon black dispersion produced by the production process are provided. An automotive coating material composition, an aqueous coating material and an aqueous ink composition each comprising the high jetness carbon black dispersion are provided.
