PURPOSE: To obtain a high performance photographic lens suitable to a lens shutter camera with less performance deterioration to the peripheral part of a film plane though the lens is simply constituted.

CONSTITUTION: As to a lens system provided with a front group constituted of at least one positive lens G1 and at least one negative lens G2 whose curvature is set larger on an image side face than an object side face and a rear group and constituted of a doublet G3 having a positive refractive power constituted of one succeeding positive lens and one negative lens and a positive lens G4, the lens face nearest to the image side of the doublet G3 has a recessed face with reference to the image plane, and the intermediate lens face of the doublet G3 has a projecting face with reference to the image plane. It is desirable that the lens G2 is a meniscus negative lens having a recessed face with reference to the image plane, and also, it is desirable that both groups are moved toward an object side together while changing the air distance between both groups in the case of focusing from a point at infinity to a point at a short distance.
