Abstract:

To provide hollow fibers having a function of adsorbing water during any gas passing through the hollow portions and provide a convenient gas humidifier using the hollow fibers.

Hygroscopic hollow fibers are those employing as a base material aromatic polyether sulfone polymer, aromatic polyether amide polymer or aromatic polyether amide alkyl sulfone polymer. A solution of the polymers is solidified from an outer periphery nozzle through wet fiber spinning obtained by discharging from an inner periphery nozzle a core solution of at least one kind selected from a copolymer suspension solution of water tetrafluoroethylene, perfluorovinyl ether and an aqueous polysulfonated stylene-Na solution. A gas humidifier is adapted such that many hygroscopic hollow fibers 2 are arranged with opposite ends brought into close contact and with a middle portion left behind independently, and hollow holes at the opposite ends oppose to closed spaces 5 and 6 with a water suction inlet 7 communicating with the one closed space 5 and with a water takeout outlet 8 communicating with the other closed space 6.
