Abstract:

To provide a high pressure fuel pump capable of decreasing the number of component parts by consolidating a suction valve 19 with a solenoid valve 18A, assuring a high rate of flow and an enhanced capacity efficiency till the high rotating speed range of the engine, enabling a low-pressure spill of the fuel in the fuel discharge stroke, allowing the minimum pump functions to be retained even if the solenoid valve 18A has gone in failure, precluding impairing of the fuel supply function to the engine, and easy to make lift adjustment of the suction valve 19.

The high pressure fuel pump is structured so that the armature 24 of the solenoid valve 18A and the valve body 26 of the suction valve 19 are arranged capable of contacting and separating individually and that in the fuel discharge stroke, a low-pressure spill to a minor degree is made from the suction valve 11 while the suction valve is in the closed condition and at its foregoing stage, whereby the suction valve 19 and the solenoid valve 18A are installed in consolidation, and the valve body 26 of the suction valve 19 is formed separately from the armature 24 of the solenoid valve 18A, wherein the valve body 26 is possible to contact with and separate from the armature 24.
