To provide a robust high-pressure fuel pump having high lubricity in a slidably fitting part between a cylinder and a plunger, in order to solve the following problem: fluid is likely to reside particularly in a lower part (a low-pressure fuel chamber side end) of the cylinder that generates large heat in the slidably fitting parts between the cylinder and the plunger.
The cylinder and a pump body are formed of different members. The plunger has a stepped part that is located on an outer periphery opposite to a pressure chamber and has a smaller diameter than a part slidably fitted with the cylinder. The volume of a low-pressure fuel chamber is increased or decreased by the stepped part of the plunger that is reciprocated in the low-pressure fuel chamber. A fuel flows between the inside of the low-pressure fuel chamber and a low-pressure fuel passage, and the fuel flow cools the cylinder directly or indirectly.
