Abstract:

To provide a material having a higher refractive index, a higher Abbe's number and higher impact resistance in the situation of infinite requests for proposals of new compounds having a high refractive index and a high Abbe's number of a plastic lens.

An episulfide compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein, a, b and c denote each independently 1 or 2, except that a, b and c are simultaneously 1). An optical material composed of a resin prepared by curing a polymerizable composition containing the compound has excellent optical properties of the higher refractive index and higher Abbe's number.
