Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the above plastic lens which is good in moldability, transparency, dyeability, and impact resistance, is light in weight and is lessened in yellowing at the time of polymn. by copolymerizing diallyl isophthalate, diethylene glycol and diallyl terephthalate. CONSTITUTION:The three-component copolymer consisting of 10 to 70wt.% diallyl isophthalate, 20 to 60wt.% diethylene glycol (allyl carbonate) and 10 to 50wt.% diallyl terephthalate is used as an essential component. Further, the refractive index of the molding is >=1.530 and <1.560. An increase in the refractive index is hardly admitted if the total of the amt. of the diallyl isophthalate and the diallyl terephthalate is below 40wt.%. Physical and chemical characteristics are poor and such are molding is undesirable as the lens for spectacles if the total exceeds 80wt.%. The yellowing of the lens is conspicuous if the amt. of the diallyl isophthalate exceeds 70wt.%. The yellowing of the lens is conspicuous if the amt. of the diallyl isophthalate is below 10wt.%.
