Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide safe nuclear power generation, a safe fast breeder reactor, and a radiation removal method.SOLUTION: A neutron absorbing material is placed between a bottom surface and a top surface of each uranium fuel pellet, and the neutron absorbing material is dissolved to cover the uranium fuel pellet if no coolant remains. Fuel pellets in which plutonium-239 and uranium-238 are mixed are arranged into a lattice fashion, and the fuel pellets are covered up to the top with a material heavier than sodium and molten at a higher temperature than a temperature of overheated steam of the cooling water, the material filling in between the fuel pellets. A central portion of the material is formed into a space, where primary cooling water is filled to generate electric power. The radioactively contaminated soil is filled into a hermetic vessel covered with a heat insulating material, and fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and iodine are injected into the hermetic vessel and agitated therein so as to cause cesium, strontium, and plutonium binding with oxygen, aluminum, etc to bind with fluorine, chlorine, bromine, and iodine and to collect cesium, strontium, and plutonium.
