Unique MAC address and IP address are respectively applied to an active system server 1 and a stand-by system server 2, and virtual MAC address and virtual IP address are commonly set for both of them. A connection 202 is set between the servers 1 and 2. When communication data based on the virtual MAC address are transmitted, the stand-by system server 2 transfers the communication data through a connection 202 to the active system server 1, and detects the failure of the active system server 1 due to the disconnection of the connection 202, and at the time of detecting the failure, the stand-by system server 2 performs processing to the communication data based on the virtual MAC address by its own device.
