Abstract:

To provide a high performance magnesium alloy member in which cold strength and ductility are simultaneously improved, and to provide a method for producing the same.

In the high performance magnesium alloy member, by subjecting flame-resistant magnesium obtained by adding calcium of 0.5 to 1.5 mass% to a commercial magnesium alloy to extrusion molding while rotating a die and to working by torsion extrusion, cold strength and ductility are simultaneously improved. The method for producing the alloy member is also provided. Regarding the inside of the flame-resistant magnesium alloy fed to the torsion extrusion, fine precipitates are uniformly dispersed so as to improve its strength, and further, since the {0002} face thereof is tilted by 15 to 35° to the extrusion direction (stretching direction), its ductility improves as well.
