PURPOSE: To provide a high strength handrail high in formability and manufactured at realistic cost.

CONSTITUTION: A handrail 1 is formed of master columns on both ends, and a rail body 3 provided between the master columns. The rail body 3 is formed of posts 4 fixed at specified spaces to a bridge A, and an upper rail 5, an intermediate rail 6 and a lower rail 7 fixed to the upper, intermediate and lower sides of each post 4. Each of these members forming the handrail 1 is constituted of iron core material 11 to be a base body, and a cast covering material 12 made of an aluminum alloy and formed on the surface of the core material 11 by casting technigue. Each member of the handrail 1 demonstrates high strength inside by the iron core material 11, and the surface pattern can be formed optionally in grain, rope shape, or the like by the cast covering material 12 on the surface.
