Abstract:

To provide an improved link for a chain with low operating noise, low friction losses, good tooth jump resistance.

An improved link (200) for a chain for use with a sprocket includes a body having a pair of apertures (202) for receiving connecting pins (207 and 208) and a pair of teeth (205)having outside flanks (204) and inside flanks (206) between the teeth defining a crotch (203). The link (200) includes an effective outer flank angle (Δ) between a line tangent to the outer flank of the link at 1.5 P and a vertical line intersecting the tangent line of less than or equal to 29°, an effective inner flank angle (φ) between a line tangent to the inner flank of the link at 0.5 P and a vertical line intersecting the tangent line of less than or equal to 29°, and a plurality of ratios.
