Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable to adjust the width of a roof to an accurate roof width by cutting oversize hanger bricks and filler bricks on a shop floor by using hanger bricks having flat oblong lower surfaces having the length of the predetermined multiple of the width.
CONSTITUTION: Hanger bricks have oblong lower surfaces 11 having at least the length of 2 1/2 times the width of the hanger bricks. Longer the length of the hanger bricks 10, fewer the number of necessary metal hangers and larger the open space on a furnace roof. The lower surface parts of the hanger bricks 10 are provided with filler brick supporting ledges 12 extended along opposite sides. The filler brick supporting ledges 12 extend outward on the lower surface 11 with distance and height giving enough strength to support adjacent filler bricks. Narrow upper parts of the hanger bricks 10 extend over the whole length of the bricks and have hanger recessed parts 13 with enough depth on either side.
