Title:
HIGH TENSILE BORON STEEL OF EXCELLENT NOTCH TOUGHNESS FOR MACHINE CONSTRUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5754254
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture high tensile boron steel for the machine construction having notch toughness comparable to Cr-Mo low-alloy steel by decreasing the content of P, Ti, N in structual boron steel.

CONSTITUTION: Steel containing 0.28W0.43% C, 0.05W0.50% Si, 0.60W1.20% Mn, P<0.015%, 0.5W1.5% Cr, 0.005W0.015% Ti, 0.02W0.06% sol.Al, N< 0.0045%, 0.0005W0.0040% B and further one or two kinds of 0.01W0.05% Nb, 0.05W0.20% V. To manufacture the high tensile boron steel for machine construction having excellent tensile strength and notch toughness after hardening and tempering by suppressing the content and formation of P and TiN deteriorating toughness, especially notch toughness to extremely small amounts.
