Abstract:

To produce a steel having high strength and free from the generation of galvanizing crackings in the weld zone.

This steel is the one to be subjected to reheating quenching after rolling and having a compsn. contg., by weight, 0.04% to 0.08% C, 0.1 to 0.6% Si, 0.8 to 1.6% Mn, ≤0.02% P, ≤0.002% S, 0.8 to 1.8% Cu, 0.4 to 1.0% Ni, 0.01 to 0.20% V, 0.01 to 0.05% Ti, 0.001 to 0.005% Ca, 0.002 to 0.006% N, 0.005 to 0.1% Al, ≤0.0002% B and ≤0.005% O, furthermore added with one or ≥ two kinds among ≤0.5% Cr, ≤0.4% Mo and ≤0.03% Nb, and the balance iron with impurities.
