Title:
HIGH-TOUGHNESS TITANIUM CARBONITRIDE-ZIRCONIUM OXIDE-BASED CERAMICS MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06122554
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a titanium carbonitride-zirconium oxide-based ceramics material having high density, high strength and high toughness, comprising ZrO2 of tetragonal system stabilized without using a stabilizer such as Y2O3, consequently free from thermal deterioration, usable as a wear-resistant tool and a cutting tool heated to 200°C or higher.

CONSTITUTION: This titanium carbonitride-zirconium oxide-based ceramics material is formed by sintering mixed powder of 90-10wt.% titanium carbonitride having a molar ratio of carbon and nitrogen of 1:9-9:1 and 10-90wt.% ZrO2 of tetragonal system or by blending further the mixed powder as a basic component with 1-10wt.% one or more of titanium and titanium oxide based on the whole amount and sintering the blended powder.
