PURPOSE: To reduce the number of parts of a high-performance high-voltage generating apparatus and keep high reliability thereof.

CONSTITUTION: The secondary coils 21a, 21b of a transformer 19 are divided and formed as the stacked coils and each layer thereof is connected with high voltage capacitors 23, 24 and rectifier diodes 25, 26 to form a rectifier circuit. Moreover, a diode 30 is connected between the winding end of each coil layer, for example, the winding end of the secondary coil 21a and a connecting point of a diode 25 of the next coil layer and a high voltage capacitor 24 and this diode 30 connects respective layers in the forward direction. Thereby, since the coils for obtaining a high voltage output are layer wound and the layers are insulated by films, a high reliability can be obtained, a high voltage can be obtained with a small number of parts by voltage-doubler rectifying each coil layer and the reliability can further be improved.
