Abstract:

To obtain a highly active double metal cyanide composite catalyst useful for forming a high-molecular epoxide by using a composite catalyst containing a double metal cyanide compound, an organic combining agent and a specified metal salt.

This composite catalyst consists of a double metal cyanide compound, an organic combining agent and a metal salt and contains at most 0.2mol of the metal salt per mol of the double metal cyanide compound. The double metal cyanide compound preferably comprises zinc hexacyanocobaltete. The metal salt preferably comprises a halogenated zinc compound. The catalyst more preferably comprises one containing at most 0.15mol of the metal salt per mol of the double metal cyanide compound.
