PURPOSE: To obtain the subject slurry having excellent fluidity without problem in transport and in handling under storage at a low temperature or in quality by adding a specific compound during or after a neutralizing process of the α-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester.
CONSTITUTION: During or after a neutralizing process of an α-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester (preferably the fatty acid residue has 6-24C and alkyl in the ester has 1-3C), an alkylbenzene sulfonic acid or its salt is added preferably in an amount of 0.1-20wt.% based on the α-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester. Preferably, the neutralization is successively performed using an aqueous solution of ammonia or hydroxide of an alkaline (earth) metal as a base and at 40-70°C and pH at 4-7. Preferably, the concentration of the α-sulfofatty acid alkyl ester salt in the slurry is 50-75wt.%.
