To obtain a highly conductive polyurethane resin used to improve electrostatic characteristics, chargeablility, latent image printing performances, etc., by using a polyurethane resin containing at least one type of ionic segments having specified properties.
This resin has a glass transition temperature of 30°C or below, contains at least one type of ionic segments represented by SO3M, COOM, NR3 or NR4+.X- (wherein M is hydrogen, an alkylmetal or an ammonium ion; R is an alkyl, an aralkyl or an alkylene; and X- is an inorganic or organic ion) and has a volume resistivity of 106-109-Ωcm. The highly conductive resin is desirably one obtained by reacting an aliphatic long-chain polyol with an organic polyisocyanate or reacting them further with a chain extender. It is desirably one in which the heat of melting of the aliphatic long-chain polyol used in the polyurethane is 200kJ/mol or below.
