Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the high strength Zr alloy excellent in nodular corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics by incorporating Zr with specified amounts of Sn, Fe, Cr, Ni and O or furthermore with Nb.

CONSTITUTION: Zr is incorporated with, by weight, <3% Sn, <2% Fe, <1% Cr, <2% Ni and <30ppm O; at this time, when the concn. (%) of Sn, Fe, Cr, Ni and O is each expressed by CSn, CFe, CCr, CNi and Co, the quantitative relationship satisfying inequalities (1), (2) and (3) is held among them. Furthermore, <1% Nb is incorporated thereto according to necessary. The Zr alloy excellent in nodular corrosion resistance and workability as well as mechanical characteristics such as tensile strength and ductility can be obtd.
