Title:
HIGHLY DURABLE SOLID POLYELECTROLYTE AND ELECTRODE- ELECTROLYTE JOINT BODY USING IT AS WELL AS ELECTROCHEMICAL DEVICE USING THE ELECTRODE-ELECTROLYTE JOINT BODY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3656244
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically provide a highly durable solid polyelectrolyte which is superior in oxidation resistance against peroxides generated by cell reaction, intending for the use of electrolyte membranes or the like such as polyelectrolyte type fuel cell or water electrolysis device.
SOLUTION: By introducing a chelating functional group in polyelectrolyte material having the chemical structure in which electrolyte group has been introduced into a hydrocarbon skeleton part, metal ions (mixed from the fuel pipe line system or the like) that cause radical formation from peroxides such as hydrogen peroxide generated by cell reaction are captured by chelating functional groups, and the formation of peroxide radicals is inhibited. The introduction of chelating functional group is made by doping with compounds having polyethylene imine or poly-4-vinyl pyridine or the like into the electrolyte, or by the chemical bonding of amino dimethylene phosphonic group. Further, in order to restrain de-doping, it is preferable that a monomer which is cross-linkable and which has a functional group having metal capturing ability such as phosphonic group or carboxylic group or the like is impregnated in the electrolyte membrane.
