To provide a highly water-absorbing woven fabric which has a highly water absorbing property and a water-retaining property, gives a good skin touch, and can easily be dried.

Both the side woven fabrics 10a, 10b are woven by crossing mutually adjacent warps 12 to each other in the longitudinal direction and picking a plurality of wefts 14, 16 between the warps. A plurality of intermediate wefts 15 are picked for each mutual crossing of a pair of the adjacent warps. The intermediate wefts 15 are nipped and woven between both the side woven fabrics 10a, 10b formed from pairs of the warps 12 and the wefts 14, 16.
