Abstract:
To provide a highly water-absorptive ophthalmic lens realizing excellent dimension stability without becoming cloudy even when freezing and thawing are repeated or it is exposed under the low temperature of about 5°C for a long period of time or the like, and a method for advantageously producing the highly water-absorptive ophthalmic lens with such excellent characteristics.
The highly water-absorptive ophthalmic lens whose water content is 73 to 84% is formed by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer composition which consists of vinyl acetate and diethylene glycol divinyl ether and saponifying the obtained copolymer.
