PURPOSE: To prevent a hitch stitch from being formed at the time of pattern sewing, and also, to eliminate such a fact as a bobbin thread is drawn out more than required and seam tightness gets worse.

CONSTITUTION: In the sewing machine provided with a rotary frame 6 for holding a sewing object on an XY table 5 for moving the sewing object in the X and the Y directions being orthogonal in the same plane in accordance with a sewing pattern and rotating of the plane so as to set its sewing direction in the prescribed direction or within its allowable range at all times, a movement in the X and the Y direction of the XY table 5 and a rotation of the rotary frame 6 are controlled in cooperation with each other, so that the sewing object is rotated centering around a needle location point S in which the sewing direction is varied.
