To obtain a hoist motor for an elevator achieved in the reduction of the axial thickness of a stator which is wired with a phase ring.
The hoist motor for the elevator comprises: a core back part 17a; a core 16A composed of a plurality of teeth 18a integrally formed at the core back part 17a; a cylindrical body 20; first and second insulating members 19A, 19B attached to the teeth 18a; the stator 15A having a winding 36 wound around the cylindrical body 20; a main shaft 14a arranged in the axial center position of the core 16A; a rotor 5A having permanent magnets annularly arranged on the internal peripheral surface of the core at prescribed intervals with the internal peripheral surface; and the phase ring 37 which feeds power to the winding 36. At least either of the first and the second insulating members 19A, 19B comprises ring wiring holding tools 23, 26 positioned on the end face of the core back part 17a, and the phase ring 37 is held by the ring wiring holding tools 23, 26 in a state that the ring is annularly arranged along the end face of the core 16A.
