PURPOSE: To easily set holders by disposing two holders on both sides of a zigzag seam forming line, providing the holders contiguously to a holder driving means to be individually vertically moved and moving independently vertically the holders respectively by the operation of two holder switches.
CONSTITUTION: In sewing a zigzag seam 9, an arm part 21 of a sewing machine is put into a bag section between left surface cloths of a left lower fold 1B and set to an intended zigzag seam 9 sewing part to fold back the end 4a of rear cloth 4 to the left with the seam as a center. Also the left lower fold 1B, the left side fold 1A and a lower plate 22 are located relative to each other and a left holder switch is turned on to shift downward a left holder 23b. Next, the rear cloth 4 placed on the left lower fold 1B and left side fold 1A is located and a right holder switch is turned on to shift downward a right holder 23a for holding the rear cloth 4. A sewing machine starting switch 29 is turned on so that a feeding means is shifted at every stitch in the direction of X-Y according to sewing data to form the zigzag seam 9.
