To make the holding bar against earthquake, corresponding to a desk having a framing member at the bottom between the legs by providing a fixing member on the top of an expansible and contractible column and by making an inserting groove opened at the bottom end of the desk, into where the framing member is inserted.
To make an inserting groove 1c by dividing the bottom of the lower column 1b, as well as to provide the lower column with set nuts 2 to adjust the height of entire column 1. When fixing this to an existing table or desk 7 having a framing member 7c crossed over the center of the bottom between the legs 7b, the framing member 7c is then placed onto the inserting groove 2c. As required, subsequently, a fixing member 4 is then secured to the back of the top board of table or desk 7 with set screws or bolts via a fixing panel 6. With two set nuts 2, the height is then adjusted to complete the fixing. Upon the occurrence of an earthquake, escaping under the table 7 and the like to hold the column 1 gives no worry about the table or desk 7 being moved toward any unexpected direction or being thrown out.
