To provide a holding and delivering device capable of stably holding and delivering articles having various weight and shapes without causing plastic deformation or breakage by a sufficient suction force.
This holding and delivering device 1 includes a suction head 2 having an article suction face having a plurality of suction holes, and a negative pressure supply means 4 connected to a suction chamber 9 of the suction head 2. The negative pressure supply means 4 can suck and hold the articles almost without plastically deforming them while the articles are arranged on almost all areas of the article suction face and outside air is not directly sucked from a large number of the suction holes when the suction head 2 sucks and holds the articles in such a manner that the articles are brought into contact with the article suction face. Also, the means has a low and flat suction side static pressure characteristic relative to a wide air volume area so that negative pressure enough to maintain the suction and holding of the articles can be given to the suction head 2, even in a state that an area in which the articles do not contact with the article suction face is large and outside air is directly sucked from many suction holes not contacting with the articles.
