Title:
HOLDING MEANS AND METHOD FOR TRANSPLANTING BONE TISSUE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07432
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a device that is implanted into osseous tissue, e.g. the skull of the patient, for the electric transmission of signals to the internal ear. CONSTITUTION: A holding means comprises a rotationally symmetric body 1 of titanium or other tissue-compatible material, having an insertion end 2 for insertion into a hole prepared in osseous tissue and an application end 3 intended to remain external to the patient. A center through-hole 4 connects to both ends 2, 3 of the main body. An external helical thread 7 is provided adjacent to the insertion end. Insulating electrodes 9 are placed in the hole to support one or more terminal electrodes or contactors 12 connected to an insulating conductor 8. The conductor 8 passes through either an axial hole at the insertion end or an opening in a circumferential wall surface and extends from the contactors 12. In the transplantation of the holding means, a hole is provided in the osseous tissue, the holding means is screwed into the hole, the conductor 8 extends through the center hole and at the insulating electrodes connects to each of their contactors, and the insulating electrodes are passed through the application end and fixed in the center hole.
