To provide a holding mechanism of a protector capable of preventing a recessed flaw by an opening door of a vehicle adjacently parked even in a narrow parking area.
This holding mechanism is formed as a holder having a holding part for holding the protector, a receiving part arranged in the holder and receiving a vehicle body projection part such as a door handle, an opening-closing means for opening-closing the receiving part and a locking means for regulating opening of the receiving part by the opening-closing means in a closing position of the opening-closing means. The opening-closing means can be formed as an opening-closing arm having one end part side journaled to the holder and opening-closing the receiving part. The locking means can be formed as a lock stopping arm journaled to the distal end side more than a journaling part of the opening-closing arm, a vehicle body side lock stopping part arranged on the distal end side of the lock stopping arm and a locking part arranged in the holder. The holder is fixed to the vehicle body projection part by regulating the rotational movement of the opening-closing arm by locking the vehicle body side lock stopping part on the locking part by rotating the lock stopping arm to the locking part side in a closing position of the opening-closing arm.
