PURPOSE: To obtain a cast iron-made cam shaft provided with an oil feeding hole as cast on a chilled surface of the cam by setting a chiller arranged with a slender carbon rod at the position corresponding to the oil feeding hole on the chilled surface of the cam at the cam part in a main mold and using the mold arranged with a center core in the inner part of the mold.

CONSTITUTION: The cope chiller 1 and the drag chiller 2 are set in a shell mold 3 as the main mold. The hole 4 is opened in the cope chiller 1 for fixing the carbon rod and the carbon rod 5 is inserted. Then, by using the mold 3 arranged with the center core 6 arranged with the slender carbon rod 5 at the position corresponding to the oil supplying hole 26 on the chilled surface 24 of the cam 22 in the inner part of the mold, the casting is executed. After casting, the inserted carbon rod 5 is removed and by forming the oil feeding hole 26 as cast, the cast iron-made cam shaft having the oil feeding hole on the chilled surface of the cam 22 is obtd.
