Abstract:

To provide a dry type hemocatharsis apparatus complying with the HDFIII-a type hemocatharsis apparatus submitted as a guideline by the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy which suppresses a degradation of its permselective hollow fiber membrane even when it is subjected to sterilization process by radioactive ray irradiation, hardly shows a deterioration in performance with age, and exhibits a high degree of long-term preservation stability.

The hollow fiber membrane type hemocatharsis apparatus is filled with a bundle of polysulfone-based hollow fiber membrane containing polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) up to a film surface area of 1.5 m2. When cow's blood is flowed at the rate of 200 mL/min and at the filtration speed of 50 mL/min, the ratio of the sieving coefficient of β2MG 15 minutes after the start of filtration to that 120 minutes after is 0.6 or more. Elution of PVP from the bundle of hollow fiber membrane is 10 ppm or less. Also, when the bundle of the hollow fiber membrane is divided into ten in the direction of its length and tests established by the manufacturing license standard of dialysis type artificial kidney apparatus are conducted for each of the sections, the amount of elution of hydrogen peroxide in an extract is 5 ppm or less in all the sections.
