Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hollow fiber for reinforcing water barrier sheet which resists to tearing caused by shock with a sharp angle substance and can form water-barrier sheets of high fitness to the surface to be paved by specifying the compression flatness of the cross section, the elongation at break, the strength at intermediate elongation and percentage of hollowness. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic polymer is melt-extruded through spinning nozzles having a slit shown in the figure to prepare thermoplastic synthetic hollow filaments having a percentage of hollowness of 10-40%, a compression flatness of its cross section of 1.2-2.0, an elongation at break of 100-200%, the strength at 50 % elongation of 0.6-2.0g/de. This hollow fiber is resistant to burst, can be woven into water barrier sheets which are readily fitted to rough surface and applicable to general engineering works, offshore marine engineering and land reclamation.
