To dispense with a large-scale device and to polish a body using a simple and cheap device by fixing abrasive grain to the inside face of a member having an internal space for storing the body to be polished by a fixing means.

A hollow grinding wheel 10 is constituted of a pipe 11 formed into a cylindrical shape and abrasive grain 12 fixed to the inside face of the pipe 11. An internal space 13 which is a cavity penetrating across the end parts is formed in the inside of the pipe 11 and the cross section of the internal space 13 is set to a circle having a diameter larger than the diameter of a body to be polished so that a spherical body to be polished can be stored with a play. The abrasive grain 12 is fixed to the inside face of the internal space 13. The abrasive grain 12 is fixed to the inside face of the pipe 11 by bond, however, when the pipe 11 is metal, it is fixed by electrodeposition. This constitution can dispense with a large-scale device and polish at low cost.
