To provide a member which has a function of enabling the adjustment of length from an end of a square steel tube to a structural member for undergoing the jointing of the square steel tube, which makes the degree of working low and facilitates securement of dimensional accuracy, while securing a space for the operation of fastening a bolt and a nut together, and which can constitute a square steel tube member which is superior in storage property.
The hollow metal joint includes a square cross-section fitted-in portion 11, which is provided on the axial one-end side of a tubular joint body 10 and fitted into the square steel tube 5, and a plate joint 13 which is provided on the axial other-end side of the joint body 10 and in which an end plate 31 formed with a plurality of bolt holes 33 is fixed to the other-end side end surface. The plate joint 13 is formed narrower in the inside 11 than the fitted-in portion, at least in a portion corresponding to the position of the bolt hole 33.
