To manufacture easily a hollow yarn membrane module wherein one end of a hollow yarn membrane freely swings by a method wherein in the hollow yarn membrane module comprising a plurality of hollow yarn membranes, a sectional area at a free end part of the hollow yarn membrane is made smaller than a sectional area in an outer peripheral standard of the other part of the hollow yarn membrane.
A hollow yarn membrane module comprises a plurality of hollow yarn membranes 1, and has a sealed end part 2, a potting part 3 and a water- collecting part 4. In this case, a sectional area at a free end part (a sealed end part 2) of the hollow yarn membrane 1 is made smaller than sectional area in an outer peripheral reference of the other part of the hollow yarn membrane 1. As the sectional area at the free end part 2 to the sectional area in an outer peripheral reference of the other part of the hollow yarn membrane 1, the sectional area necessary for sealing the free end part 2 of the hollow yarn membrane 1 is nequired, the sectional area at the free end part 2 is preferably at most two times the practical hollow yarn membrane sectional area. When sealed, a method of deforming the hollow yarn membrane 1 with pressure is desirable.
