To provide a hologram preparation device and a hologram preparation method, capable of readily image-focusing white light, without generating chromatic aberrations, using a simple constitution.
This hologram preparation device divides each laser beam emitted from a plurality of colors of laser beam sources, irradiates a recording material of a hologram with a reflected light from a recording object, when the recording object of the hologram is irradiated with one laser beam, after being divided as object light, irradiates the recording material of the hologram with the other laser beam, after being divided as a reference light, and thereby prepares the hologram. The hologram preparation device is provided with a spatial modulating element 4 for displaying a lattice fringe for phase-shifting the other laser beam, and the spatial modulation element 4 simultaneously phase-shifts each laser beam that is incident, while being set to overlap the first-order diffraction light on a straight line, by moving the display position of the lattice fringe, and reflects the laser beam, after being phase-shifted, as a reference light 5, to the recording material side, and prepares the hologram.
