To provide a hologram recording device and a hologram recording method in which the intensity of a light spot for fixing can be controlled to be uniform and higher compared to an LED light source so as to require little time for the fixing process.

The hologram recording device functions to irradiate a hologram recording medium with recording laser light and then to irradiate the medium with fixing light to record data in the medium, and the device is equipped with a laser light scattering means which scatters laser light emitted from a laser light source to obtain fixing light, and a disposing means which detachably disposes the laser light scattering means on an optical path of the laser light from the laser light source emitting the recording laser light to the hologram recording medium. The laser light is used as fixing light or recording light depending on the presence or absence of the laser light scattering means on the optical path.
