To provide a holographic optical element having favorable element characteristics while dissolving harmful effects brought by drying of a photosensitive material for forming a photosensitive recording layer; and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.
A holographic optical element 10 includes: a substrate 110 having translucency; a photosensitive recording layer 120 which is provided on the substrate 110 and on which an interference fringe is formed; a substrate 140 provided on the other side of the substrate 110 with respect to the photosensitive recording layer 120 and having the translucency; and an adhesion layer 130 provided between the photosensitive recording layer 120 and the substrate 140 and having the translucency. The refraction index of the adhesion layer 130 is substantially equal to the refraction index of the photosensitive recording layer 120.
