Abstract:
To provide a honeycomb filter for the purification of an exhaust gas, which is capable of reducing heat stress generated by local changes in temperature without causing crack formation and is excellent in strength, durability, and temperature rise.
The honeycomb filter for the purification of the exhaust gas is composed such that a plurality of columnar porous ceramic members in which many through-holes arranged side by side longitudinally with partition walls separating them are bundled via adhesive layers and the partition walls separating the through-hole function as a filter for particle collection, wherein the heat capacity per unit volume of the adhesive layers is lower than that of the porous ceramic members.
